Photobox merges with Moonpig Photobox, the online photo printing firm has acquired Moonpig.com in a deal valuing the greetings-card business at £120 million. Following the acquisition the two companies will continue to operate as separate businesses but enjoy the benefits of a complementary customer base and increased scale. Photobox chief executive Stan Laurent becomes group president and chief executive officer while Iain Martin becomes Moonpig's managing director. Moonpig.com founder and executive chairman Nick Jenkins will serve as an advisor on the group’s board of directors.
Orbital buys Readicut Response handling and fulfilment firm Orbital has acquired some of the assets of craft supplies cataloguer Readicut on 15th June from the administrator. Orbital had been operating Readicut’s outsourced fulfilment for the past three years and was the business’s main creditor when it collapsed. Orbital is currently operating Readicut’s website and is preparing autumn catalogues. It plans to stabilise and evaluate the business and its prospects before deciding whether to continue trading or seek a buyer.

York Mailing acquires assets of Pindar The trade and assets of Pindar’s web offset and bindery division have been acquired out of administration by York Mailing. Approximately 255 jobs have been saved by the sale and the company will continue to trade from its Scarborough base.
Ironmongery Direct posts strong growth Fixings cataloguer Ironmongery Direct reports that turnover for the half-year rose 25 percent to £7.1 million, compared with £5.7 million for the same period in 2010. Operating profit for the first half of 2011 is up 40 percent to £750,000 compared with £500,000 in 2010.
Scotts & Co hands delivery brief to Hermes Multititle cataloguer Scotts & Co has awarded a two-year contract extension to Hermes for the home delivery of 2.2 million items each year. Under the agreement, Scotts & Co will streamline its existing operation for items up to 15 kilograms by consolidating the requirements under a single supplier for the first time.

Charles Tyrwhitt to open first Scottish store Charles Tyrwhitt, the upmarket shirt cataloguer/retailer, is opening its first store in Scotland. The new store, in Edinburgh, will open in September.
