Findel acquires rest of Webb Group, posts results

After months of rumours, Findel confirmed that it is focusing on its home shopping and education-supplies units. While many newspapers are reporting this to mean that Findel is putting the healthcare division up for sale, the company does not go so far as to say so in its annual results. The company does report that it acquired the 70 percent of Webb Group it hadn’t already owned for £3—£1 each to the two management shareholders and to the trustee. For the year ended 3rd April, sales from continuing operations were £599.8 million, down 1.8 percent from £610.6 million the previous year. Benchmark profit before tax was £33.4 million, down 34 percent from £50.8 million last year. Findel also plans to raise £81 million through an equity issue to reduce its debts.
