JD Sports launches discount brand

Get the Label is a new discount ecommerce site and print catalogue from retailer JD Sports Fashion. It sells casual apparel and footwear for adults and children from brands such as Converse, Lacoste, and Timberland.


Figleaves expands beyond lingerie

No longer satisfied with selling only lingerie, etailer Figleaves has expanded its merchandise range to include womenswear as well as apparel for men and children. In addition to its own-brand collection of both women’s and men’s casual apparel, Figleaves offers items from outside brands including Birkenstock, Speedo, and Ted Baker.

VAT cut did boost sales

The government`s December cut in VAT by 2.5 points was widely criticised by businesses as requiring too much effort for too little reward. But according to the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR), the reduction actually did pay off. The CEBR estimates that although the tax cut will cost the government £4 billion-£5 billion in lost funds, it will end up generating an additional £8 billion-£9 billion in retail sales.

Don Libey to take part in Catalogue Exchange Annual Summit

US futurist Don Libey will address the June 3rd gathering of Catalogue Exchange members at its annual summit. Taking place in the Council Chamber at Kensington Town Hall, the day’s proceedings will encompass member debate on current issues as well as in-depth discussion of key topics via hosted round tables. Waitrose, Ocado food fight

Waitrose will no longer charge for home delivery as it tries to steal market share from other supermarkets’ delivery services. Meanwhile, web grocer Ocado, which sells and delivers Waitrose products within the M25, will be cutting prices so that it offers those goods cheaper than Waitrose itself does in its stores.

Two Right Feet in administration

KPMG Restructuring was appointed administrator of nursery products etailer Two Right Feet, which traded online as Two Left Feet. In a letter dated 31st March, the date of administration, KPMG wrote to customers informing them that the business had ceased to trade and was unable to fulfil any outstanding orders. Most of the company’s 24 staff were made redundant.
