AVS matches no guarantee against fraud

One of the analysts working for The 3rd Man has uncovered serious flaws in the AVS used by credit card companies to verify card holder identity. Source of the data, Verdict Research, also found that online shoppers are purchasing an average of 16.9 times a year and spending an average of 7.8 per cent more than in 2006.

Waitrose to expand online delivery service

Waitrose which has a 25 per cent stake in Ocado is nevertheless extending its own Waitrose Deliver service to more than 60 of its stores this summer.

Screwfix extends feedback tool to all products

Following successful trials Screwfix has launched ratings and reviews across all the products featured on its website. The service provided by Bazaarvoice enables customers to rate and review individual products for other customers to use for making comparisons and better informed product choices.

    Ann Summers to reposition

Ann Summers is set to overhaul its stores to appeal to more conservative customers. It plans include the relocation of sex toys and raunchier products to the rear of its stores and to display softer more feminine lines in its storefronts.

    Walmart takes online classifieds

Online retailers, like Walmart in the US, are beginning to attract additional traffic to their websites by hosting free classified ads for customers and paid ads for brand owners. This direct assault on local print media not only drives traffic to its site but is expected to deliver a major new income stream.
