    Corporate Express & Lyreco seek approval to merge

    Corporate Express is set to acquire 100 per cent of Lyreco in order to create what it says will be the undisputed leading global office products supplier to the B2B market. The combined businesses, assuming that Corporate Express shareholders approve the deal, will have sales of 7.8 billion Euros.
     

    Travis Perkins takes mybuilder.com stake

    Travis Perkins, which recently acquired Toolstation, has taken a stake in mybuilder.com a website which brings together builders and homeowners looking for tradespeople. The building supplies business has the option to increase its stake in the future.
     

    Hornby acquires Corgi

    Hornby has extended its leadership of the model market by acquiring the Corgi miniature die-cast car and truck brand for a £7.5 million consideration for the brand, licensing rights and tools, together with an additional £800,000 for stock. Hornby, best known for its train sets, also owns Airfix, Humbrol and Scalextric.
     

    Avon launches range of lingerie

    This month will see Avon add lingerie to the product range marketed by its agents. It has signed Lisa Snowden as the "face" of the range.
     

    Start-rite web decision sparks stockist furore

    Premium children's footwear brand, Start-rite, which has historically placed great significance on its stockists' expert fitting services has scored something of an "own" goal by launching a transactional website. Stockists are angry that the business will now sell children’s shoes direct without proper "in person" fitting.
     

    Begy resigns MandM post

    Nick Begy who held the position of marketing director for MandM Direct has resigned with immediate affect. Begy serves on the advisory board of The Catalogue Exchange.
     

    Business Post boosts profits

    Business Post achieved a 45 per cent increase in its pre-tax profits for the year to March. Sales were ten per cent up overall on the previous year at £359.1 million.
     

    New MD for Shoe Studio

    Former Wolverine Heritage Brands Group MD Gordon Baird will join Msoaic Fashion's Shoe Studio business as its managing director. He replaces John Egan who moved on in February.
     

    Chatham Marine appoints MD

    "Yachtie" brand Chatham Marine which was acquired by Stuart Marsh Group in 2007 has named Prabhu Kashap as its managing director. Kashap is the former MD of Ted Baker footwear and has worked in senior positions for Kickers and Scholl.
