Flying Brands profits hit
|
| Pre-tax profits at Flying Brands fell by 31 per cent to £3.6 million for the year to December 28th 2007, despite a rise in sales to £46.3 million from £42.4 million. Despite the fall the business plans to continue to invest in new acquisitions and expects to announce its replacement for outgoing chief executive Mark Dugdale next month. |

Next targets Europe, moves into DIY, boosts pre-tax profits

| Next has begun to offer customers in Spain a home delivery service via its website as part of a test prior to considering rolling out a fully fledged online offering in other European countries. Meanwhile in the UK next has commenced sales of fitted kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms online and via its catalogue. In its year end to 31st January 2008 the business achieved an increase in its pre-tax profits of 4.1 per cent to £498 million. |

Woolworths 'de-layers'

Catalogue Exchange unveils new look June event
|
| The 3rd annual Catalogue Exchange June event at Kensington Town Hall takes on an expanded new format this year. Scheduled for June 3rd it will comprise an opening plenary session for all delegates featuring an interview session with a leading sector entrepreneur before breaking into two distinct groupings. Client side board directors will enjoy their legendary "Behind Closed Doors" sessions in the Council Chamber, with client side manager and executive level delegates convening in the Great Hall with representatives of associate member businesses to exchange information on issues like customer recruitment and marketing, product selection and merchandising, and exceeding customer expectations.
