    Retailers honoured in New Year’s list

    Marks and Spencer chief executive Stuart Rose has been knighted for his “services to the retail industry and to corporate social responsibility”. The new year’s honours list also awards Romy Fraser, the founder of Neal’s Yard Remedies, an OBE for her services to health and beauty.
     

    Joe Browns welcomes new buying and merchandising head

    Alison Rycroft has joined joebrowns.co.uk as buying and merchandising director. Rycroft has a wealth of mail order experience in buying and stock management from N Brown, Grattan and more recently Damart.
     

    Findel axes Cornish jobs

    Seventeen jobs are to go at Letterbox’s Cornwall HQ. The call centre, office, web design and administration activities are to be relocated from Tregony to the Findel Direct site at Chadderton in Manchester. Letterbox’s warehouse functions currently undertaken at Camborne will continue.
     

    Piper exits Maximuscle

    Piper Private Equity has sold Maximuscle to Darwin Private Equity for £75 million, achieving a 10-times return on its original investment. The brand has seen rapid growth in the past few years driven by increasing interest in healthy eating, exercise and looking good; it has also benefited from associations with sports stars such as Gavin Henson and Josh Lewsey.
     

    Adili delivers strong financials

    Online ethical fashion retailer Adili.com has announced a stellar financial performance over Christmas. The company, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in December 2007, posted a sales rise of 388 percent for the four weeks to 21st December compared with the same period last year. Other Christmas winners include Play.com (a sales rise of 29 percent) and Figleaves.com (up 32 percent).
     

    Rohan director joins Hawkshead

    Hawkshead, now owned by Craghoppers parent company Regatta Group, has named former Rohan sales director Richard Utting as brand director. He is tasked with restoring Hawkshead to its former glory.
