    Record first half for Findel

    Findel has reported an increase of 33 per cent in its group sales results for the six months to September 30th. Its home shopping division – spanning credit and cash with order operations - was 59 per cent up with sales of £176.5 million of which online orders accounted for more than half the volume. Further acquisitions in the direct home shopping sector are understood to be in the pipeline whilst Findel’s sportswear brand Kitbag will launch transactional websites in partnership with the English Cricket Board and Formula 1.
     

    ASOS sales up by 83 per cent

    Fashion business ASOS has recorded a pre-tax profit of £2.4 million for the six months to September 30th on sales of £31.8 million. The business also expects to reveal very strong figures for the Christmas period – it says that sales for the nine weeks to December 2nd are up by 101 per cent and that it had 1.6 million registered users at the start of this week making it the second most visited online fashion store. Next remains in the top slot for visitor numbers.
     

    ASPACE strengthens management team

    ASPACE, the multi-channel business which specialises in children’s furniture, has recruited three senior people to its team. Gemma Whiteside who is a former divisional buying director for Mothercare joins the Board as product director. Former Cotswold Outdoor marketing manager Sarah Watson takes up the role of direct marketing manager and James Melvin joins from The Marvellous Group as catalogue designer. The ASPACE business which was founded in 2002 is expected to achieve 2007 revenues of £8.5 million.
     

    New MD for Debenhams

    Angela Spindler, the former MD of ASDA clothing business George, joins Debenhams in February in the newly created role of managing director. Spindler will report to Rob Templeman and take responsibility for brand, marketing, creative and online development.
     

    Jones joins JJB Sports

    Former Next chief executive and chairman and ECMOD Lifetime Achievement Award winner David Jones has joined JJB Sports as a non-executive director.
     

    Toast opens new London store

    Notting Hill Gate is the latest store location to be selected by French Connection owned multi-channel business Toast. It has just opened a 2800 sq.ft. shop which offers its clothing range alongside a new house and homewares range.
