    Multi-channel maternity and childrenswear business Blooming Marvellous has been bought by the Icelandic investment group Arev. The London based business was launched in 1983 by Judy Lever and Vivienne Pringle and now has 14 stores as well as a catalogue and online operation.

    Neal's Yard plans expansion

    Natural health and beauty products business Neal’s Yard Remedies is planning to double the size of its retail chain by 2010. Peter Kindersley, best known as founder of Dorling Kindersley, bought an 85 per cent stake in the business two years ago is set to invest a further £5 million in its development.

    Amazon.com achieved a 35 per cent increase in its global sales for the quarter to June 30th, raking in US$2.89 billion. Its international division which encompasses the UK, Germany, Japan, France and China saw sales rise by 31 per cent to US$1.28 billion.

    Not for profit trade body The Catalogue Exchange has confirmed its Advisory Board line-up for 2007/8 following its recent elections. New members to join the Board are M and M Direct’s Nick Begy, Dan Croxon-John of Bradshaw’s Direct, and Tim Curtis of Lands’ End (formerly of Mothercare Direct). Mark Binnington of Boden was re-elected and joins existing Board members Alison Lancaster of Charles Tyrwhitt, Martin Harvey of Marshalls Garden Catalogues, Nauticalia’s Mark Wilby, Simon Brown of Joe Browns, Peter Higgins of Charles Tyrwhitt, Cath Kidston & Joe Browns, and David Robinson of The Webb Group. The re-elected Chair for the year is Mark Dugdale of Flying Brands supported by Nigel Swabey of Scotts of Stow as Deputy Chair. The Board expressed its thanks to retiring Board members Robert Colquhoun, Henry Heavisides and Angus Thirlwell.
